Jill Lucille Cousino, 91, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2026, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Jill was born on February 13, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio, to Charles “Ray” Rideout and Dorothy (Dunsmore) Rideout. She graduated from Clay High School in 1953 and went on to build a life centered around faith, family, kindness, and caring for others. Jill married her high school sweetheart, Don Lee Cousino, in 1954.

In her younger years, Jill worked at the Lions Store and later for several local businesses, including Landmark, Ackerman and night auditor at Maumee Bay Lodge. She was a devoted member of Calvary Lutheran Church until its closing and remained strong in her faith throughout her life.

Jill loved to play bingo, working puzzles, and an avid sports fan who especially loved cheering on the Detroit Tigers and faithfully supporting her kids and grandkids at their many sporting events over the years. Nothing brought her more joy than being surrounded by family and friends.

Together, Jill and her husband Don created a home that was always open to others. Family, friends, neighbors, and anyone in need of a warm meal or welcoming place were always greeted with kindness and hospitality. Jill had a huge heart and a special gift for making people feel cared for. Cooking and feeding others was one of the many ways she showed her love, and her kitchen and home were often the center of laughter, conversation, and togetherness. Jill and Don always had an open door policy which continued after Don’s passing, especially for the weight lifters and athletes that would work out in their garage. She was active in her community and was remembered for making her hot dog sauce and pies for the neighborhood ball diamond, Dunn Chevy Curtice Ball Field.

Jill is survived by her sister Dorothy Leonhardt, sister in-law Pat Weidner, sons, Jeff, Doug, and Greg “Tiny” (Jo) Cousino; daughter, Bonnie (Steve) Petroff; former daughter-in-law, Sue and daughters Andrea and Jill; loving grandchildren, who called her “Memaw,” Justin (Natalie) Cousino, Mike (Brittany) Dufendock, Darcee (Tyler) Cousino, Corey (Elizabeth) Cousino, Zach (Jessi) Dufendock, Josh (Ashley) Cousino, Alex Cousino, Aaron Cousino, Austin (Krysta) Petroff, Jessica (Steve) Cousino, and Coty Dufendock; along with 27 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Carole Cedoz-Allen, husband Don, daughter, Julie Kroeger, great-great-grandson, Eliseo, and special canine companion, Moe.

Jill’s family would like to extend their gratitude to Genoa Care Center, Hospice Care, Tammy, and special friends Shawn Gust, Tanya Meeker, and Rick Tuttle.
