Joan E. Peiffer

Joan E. Peiffer, age 92, of Genoa, Ohio passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg surrounded by family. She was born on May 23, 1933 in Toledo, Ohio to Joseph and Violet (Gramza) McNally. Joan was a graduate of Waite High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Joan enjoyed working for and volunteering in her community. She helped start the first kindergarten class in Genoa. Joan was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Genoa. In her spare time, Joan was often found working in her yard, tending to her flower garden. She was known as a wonderful cook and pie maker. She will be dearly missed by her family.

Joan is survived by her children: Lori Shaneck, Richard (Denise) Peiffer and Carrie (Terry) Sievert; grandchildren: Emily Shaneck and her children, Aidan, and Ava; Scott (Jen) Shaneck and their children, Raelynn and Myla; Pete Luther, Angela (Austin) Foley and their children, Elaina, Nora, and Andrew; Stephanie Scott and her daughter Noah; Rick (Erica) Peiffer III and their son Jaxson; Kayla (Matthew) Hobbs and their son Lawson; Carly (Brandon) Lozdoski and their children Carmen, Mac, and Sly; and Veyda Sievert. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard; daughter, Marcy Luther; and half-brother, Dennis McNally.

Family and friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. where a scripture service will take place at 7:00 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Genoa where family will receive friends after 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Clay Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto.
