Joan E. Short

Joan Eva Short, age 81, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. She was born on August 1, 1944, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Raymond H. and Glenna E. (Johnson) Dodge and was a 1964 graduate of Libbey High School.

She devoted her life to her family, representing the spirit of nurturing and care as a dedicated homemaker. Her affiliations throughout the years included: the Women of the Moose, the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, and The Order of the Eastern Star Yondota #317.

She enjoyed following the music of Bob Wurst, embroidery, bingo, and solving word searches. Her greatest pleasure was always found in the moments spent with her family, where laughter and love flourished.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

Those left to forever cherish her memory are her loving children, Tammy (James) Wiltsie and Ronald (Jodie) Short; grandchildren, Raymond Short and Amanda Wiltsie; and sisters, Linda Hartsock and Kathy Pierce.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Ronald Lee Short; and sister, Carol Ingram.

Family and friends may visit at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Road, Oregon, Ohio 43616, on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Joan’s funeral service will take place on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the funeral home, at 10:00 am. Following the service, Joan will be laid to rest at Lake Township Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital.
