John Paul Baker, 83, passed away on May 22, 2025, in Akron, Ohio. Born on March 18, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio, he lived a life marked by dedication to his family, professional excellence, and a deep appreciation for the skies above and the world around him. John graduated from Macomber Vocational Technical High School and went on to study engineering at the University of Toledo. His passion for innovation and problem-solving led him to a successful career as an engineering consultant. He was also the proud business owner of Teamco, where he applied his expertise and leadership to build a respected name in his field. A veteran of the United States Air Force, John served his country with honor. His love for aviation extended beyond his military service he was a licensed aircraft pilot who found joy in taking to the skies. When not flying or working, John could often be found on the golf course or observing birds in their natural habitats. These hobbies reflected his appreciation for precision, patience, and nature’s quiet beauty.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Finneran-Baker; his brother, William Leutz; his children: Stephen S. Baker Sr., Deanna L. Lammie, Brian K. Baker, and Laura F. Emplit; grandchildren: Jason E. Baker, Sydney C. Baker, John Lammie, Kyle Lammie, Nathan Lammie, Makayla Higgins, Breana Lemons, Corey Emplit, and Patricia Mast; and great-grandchildren: Bryson Baker, Ethan Baker, Breeah Baker, Amelia Mast, and Abigail Mast. He was preceded in death by his father Sidney Watson Baker; mother Roberta Linda Coleman; sister Jaqulin Gertrude Regal; and grandson Stephen Sidney Baker Jr. John’s legacy lives on through the generations of family who carry forward his spirit of curiosity and resilience. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a lasting tribute to a life well lived.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel 1155 S Wynn Road on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 10-12:00 p.m. where funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.
