John A. Segura

John A. Segura, age 66, of Toledo, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 25, 2026. He was born on February 1, 1960, in Toledo, Ohio, to Manuel and Emma (Toral) Segura.

John attended Waite High School and recently retired from The Andersons. In 1999, he married the love of his life, Boni (Burson) Segura, who preceded him in death on March 15, 2026. John and Boni shared a special bond and were rarely apart. Their life together was filled with love, family, and countless cherished memories.

John’s greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He had a way of making everyone feel like family and was affectionately known as “Chico.” His loving and welcoming nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him. John was always the life of the party, bringing laughter, energy, and joy wherever he went. He loved listening to music, especially Elton John and Pink Floyd, and could often be found enjoying his favorite songs with those he loved.

John was a devoted Ohio State and Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams. In his quieter moments, he could often be found watching The History Channel or National Geographic. Above all, John treasured his family and the time they shared together.

John will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

John is survived by his children, Nicole (Chris Nowell) Segura, Maximilian (Melissa Miller) Segura, Sara (Curtice) Segura-Pedersen, and Alexandria Segura; grandchildren, Brailen, Brexleigh, Brody, Briggs, Paxton, and Beau; siblings, Margaret Finkbeiner, Rita Hulls, Jimmy, David, Patrick, George, and Joseph; as well as many nieces and nephews. Along with his wife, John was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Gloria Mautbelsch, Alfonso, Anthony, Charles, Louis, Edward, and Steven.

A Visitation will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S Wynn Rd in Oregon, Ohio, on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 2 until 8 p.m., with a prayer service held at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 212 N Stadium Rd. in Oregon on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., with a visitation one hour prior to Mass. Burial will follow at North Oregon Cemetery. Memorial contributions are appreciated to family.
