Joseph E. Herr

Joseph E. Herr, always known as Papa Joe, passed away on June 27, 2026. He was born to Clarabell and Clifford Herr on December 8, 1946, in Findlay, Ohio. Joe was a 1964 graduate of Clay High School and worked very hard his whole life as a commercial fisherman. Joe married the love of his life, Joan (Holt), in 1964, and together they raised a family and enjoyed travelling. Joe loved being around people and had so many friends.

Joe is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan; children, Jeff (Dawn) Herr, Greg (Victoria) Herr, and Kimberly (Gary) Dolt; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren, with one on the way in September. He loved all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. He was preceded in death by his mom, dad, and sister Joyce Cousino.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 5 -7 p.m. at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S Wynn Rd in Oregon, Ohio. A memorial service will begin at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are appreciated to the American Cancer Society.
