Joseph "Joe" Dale Mourray

It is with very heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph (Joe) Dale Mourray, on May 11, 2025, at the age of 81 years.

One of 6 children, Joe was born on August 24, 1943, the son of Fernando and Eva Mourray at what is now called Northwood, Ohio and attended Lake School District.

In his early years, he had numerous paper routes for the Toledo Blade. His interest has always been with cars. He began his career as a mechanic and body man with great pride and joy. In the 60’s and early 70’s, he also worked on cars for a few drivers at Toledo Speedway until back surgeries prevented it. He has followed NASCAR for most of his life and even attended races with some of his greatest friends from the past.

Joe’s love for old Country music and even learned how to play the steel guitar. He loved camping back when his most current enjoyment was learning and making stain glass ornaments.

Joe married in July of 1963 to his love, Alice (Bolander) Mourray, who survives. He is survived by his 2 daughters, Penny (Jim) Mourray-Bee and Debbie (Bruce) Lind; granddaughter, Lauren (Tim) Henneman; 2 great grandsons, TJ and Cameron Henneman; brothers, Fernando (Ann) Mourray Jr., Thomas Mourray and sister, Theresa Emahiser. His memory lives on with many nieces and nephews and countless friends he has met along the way.

Joe was preceded by his parents; sister, June Glass; and brother, Philip Mourray.

The family would like to thank the nurses and team at St. Vincent Medical Center and to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, for their love, care, and support they provided.

Family and friends may visit at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Road, Oregon, Ohio 43616, on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral services will take place at the funeral chapel, on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 11:00 am. Following the funeral, Joe will be laid to rest at Lake Township Cemetery. 

The family would like memorial contributions to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
