Joseph “Wayne” Vardaman, died unexpectedly Monday, November 19, 2018. He was born September 2, 1954 in Mobile, AL. Wayne was a graduate of Waite High School and worked in the marine industry for 38 years. His first job was at Burger King and he encouraged others to work there. He was a member of the Boilermakers Local #85. He enjoyed gardening and repairing tractors. Wayne collected coins and was known as the “Nickel Man”. He was a family man that lived life to the fullest. He will be missed.
Wayne is survived by his stepmother Molly Vardaman; loving wife Janet of 27 years; children Josette, Joseph (Mellisa), Jodie (Jason) Lorenzen, Jonathan (Jaime Shiffler), Richard (Violet Dazley); grandchildren Katie, Robert, Allie, Joseph III, Mike, Dennis and Dylan; siblings Toots (Fred) Beverly, Butch (Bernadette) Vardaman, Debbie (Ken) Burke, Connie (Cliff) Cirgenski, Joseph (Dottie and Diane) Vardaman; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cindy (Ron) Morris; and step-father, Nig Johnson.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, from 2-8 p.m. where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. Burial will be private.
