CHOVAN
Joyce Lee (Luce) Chovan, 75, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital. She was born February 15, 1942 in Toledo to the late John and Mildred (Welch) Luce. Joyce was a graduate of Whitney High School, a housekeeper at the Lutheran Home at Toledo for 36 years and a teacher’s aide at Birmingham Elementary School. She assisted in starting the Birmingham Coalition. Joyce was an avid concert attendee for artists such as Bob Seger and many others. She enjoyed bingo, camping and bunco. She was selfless, generous and loving. She loved spending time with her family.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband John, brother-in-laws Larry Large and Jim Rodenhauser and sister-in-law Yolanda Rodenhauser. She is survived by children, Lori (Joseph) Nemecek, William (Jeanne) Chovan, Suzanne Chovan; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Large and Norma (Jim) Tully, numerous nieces and nephews
Friends and family may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon, OH on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017 in the funeral home at 11 a.m. with burial to follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Calvin United Church of Christ.
