Karen S. Timbrook, age 71, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, just two days shy of her 72nd birthday. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Wesley J. and Margaret (Gast) Warns.
A proud graduate of Waite High School, class of 1971, Karen's spirit and commitment continued long after her academic achievements. She served on the Class of 1971 Reunion Committee, illustrating her pride in her roots and her desire to maintain connections with her classmates.
For many years, Karen worked diligently as a secret shopper and an inventory controller for The Andersons, a role she held until her retirement in 2017.
Known affectionately as the neighborhood mom, Karen embodied the essence of community.
Devoted to her children and grandchildren, she spent countless hours supporting them at sporting events and school activities. Karen loved seeing her grandchildren and greeting them with a big hug and a “hi, baby!” and of course “I love you”, which never stopped even when she had to go on hospice. Her love for them was so special. The excessive Christmas gifts that filled the living room to always sneaking money and gift cards to them without their parents knowing, she was always there for them. Her family-oriented nature shone through in every aspect of her life, where she was often found surrounded by loved ones, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Her personality reflected her generous spirit; a true homebody, Karen was always thinking of others and ready to lend a helping hand. She had a passion for shopping, relished lazy summer days hanging out at the pool with her friends, and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether it was visiting the beach or marveling at the beauty of flamingos and palm trees.
Karen leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to resonate within her family and community. Her spirit will forever be embedded in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Those left to forever cherish her memory are her husband, Matthew Timbrook, whom she married on November 10, 1984. Karen and Matthew had a special bond with so much love. They were dance partners for over 40 years; whether it was going out to a square dance or turning on slow music and dancing in the living room. Spending time together while creating beautiful memories is something that will forever last.
Also, survived are children, Dan (Jackie) Horvath, Jamie (Erich) Appelhans, and Katie (Tom) Timbrook-Bires; grandchildren, Nate and Nick Horvath, Owen and Hayden Timbrook; and brother, Kevin Warns.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kelly Horvath; and brother, James “Kent” Warns.
Family and friends may visit at Freck Funeral Chapel 1155 S. Wynn Road Oregon, Ohio 43616, on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
