Keith Paul Gaytan (“Gator”), age 62, passed away peacefully at his home on December 21, 2025, where he lived with his loving daughter, KC, and her family. He was born on June 28, 1963, to Audrene Grace Riley and Paul Gaytan. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Kathleen Gaytan; beloved wife, Madelyn Gaytan; brother, Georgie Young; along with grandparents and cousins whose memories he cherished throughout his life.
Keith was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He leaves behind his beloved children: Kimberly Strunk (Benjamin Binkley), Keith Gaytan II, KC Martin (Timothy Stevens), Kelsey Gaytan, and Kristeena Gaytan. He is survived by his brother, Paul A. Gaytan, and his sister, Kristeena Gaytan (Mike Edwards), nephews Paul and Owen, and his niece Breyanna. Keith was a proud grandfather to Christian, Jordan, Kyle, Kourtney, Brysen, Mason, Kaira, Kenzey, Tucker, William, and Kayla, each of whom brought immense joy, purpose, and pride into his life. He is also survived by his cherished childhood friend, Santos Urbina, whose friendship remained strong throughout Keith’s life. Keith held deep love and respect for his Aunt Kathleen and Uncle Ray Beat, who played a significant and influential role in his upbringing and life. He is survived by many loving cousins, all of whom were important to him.
Keith was a true fighter, living up to his nickname, Gator, in both strength and spirit. After being given only about a week to live, he defied those odds and lived for approximately two more months, choosing to live every day to the fullest. During this time, he shared special moments with his daughter Kelsey, friends Santos and Tidbit, as well as close cousins Drew and Angela Gaytan. He enjoyed an outing to the Hollywood Casino, a lunch at his favorite Chinese buffet, a visit with Kim and her family, and a memorable seafood boil with Keith, Jerry, Tim, and KC, along with Tim and KC’s children. These final moments will live on with us forever. Throughout this time, he was cared for with love and devotion by children and grandchildren.
Keith had a passion for life’s simple joys. He was a loyal fan of the Tennessee Titans, the Ohio State Buckeyes, professional wrestling, and the television show Big Brother. Above all, he cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren. His greatest love—besides his family—was food. A talented cook, Keith spent many years working in the culinary field and took great pride in his work with Team Industrial.
Keith was known for his sarcastic and funny sense of humor. A true jokester and teaser, he loved to make people laugh and brought lightheartedness wherever he went. His big heart, fighting spirit, playful nature, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered always. Gator will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew him.
