The LORD called Kristen “Krissy” Kelly home on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, following a courageous, long-term battle with illness. She passed away peacefully at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, surrounded by the family and friends she so dearly loved.
Krissy was born on August 20, 1962, to her devoted parents, Franklin and Patricia Kelly. She was preceded in death by her parents and her cherished godson, Matthew Keith.
She is survived by her daughter, Patti, and grandson, Hudson Grine; her siblings, Kevin, Karen (John) McClanahan, and Michael (Kathy) Kelly and their sons, Kyle, Tyler, and Drew. Krissy took immense pride in her family, and her heart was large enough to encompass an extensive circle of chosen family and relatives who will miss her deeply. Kristen’s life was a testament to the power of love and commitment within a family and her family was the greatest joy and accomplishment in her life.
A lifelong resident of Toledo, Krissy was a diehard Goaldiggers hockey fan and proud alumna of St. Thomas Aquinas and Cardinal Stritch High School. Her roots ran deep in the East Side Catholic community, where she and her family were known for their unwavering service and compassion.
As a dedicated parishioner of Sacred Heart, she was a tireless advocate for the parish school, spent nearly a decade helping build the second school and gym, and served as a Girl Scout leader, assistant basketball coach, lunch guard and school fair chairwoman.
Krissy brought that same ray of light to the Oregon restaurant scene. Whether serving as the General Manager at Frisch’s Big Boy on Woodville Road and Navarre Avenue—where she met her beloved chosen sister, Karen Ho Husen—or as a District Manager for Ponderosa, she was defined by her work ethic. She had a rare gift for making every customer feel like a welcomed guest.
Above all, Krissy was a beautiful soul who lived for others. From the profound care she provided her aging parents to her secret acts of holiday generosity for families in need, she proved daily that family isn't just about blood—it’s about how much you love. She was silly and goofy, a woman who didn’t take herself too seriously but loved others deeply.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Krissy will be held at Epiphany of the Lord at St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11 :00 a.m. Her family and friends will also celebrate her life at Friendly Village in Perrysburg with a potluck-style gathering in early May. The family warmly invites all who knew Krissy to attend.
