Larry Lee Henderson

Larry Henderson, 83, of Walbridge, OH passed away surrounded by family on July 12, 2025. He was born on April 2,1942 in Massillon, OH to Charles N. and Kathryn (Witting) Henderson. He was a proud graduate of Clay High School Class of 1960. He married Suzanne Christiansen on October 5, 1963. He worked for the N & W Railroad as a carman right after high school and then found his true calling as a carpenter. He was a carpenter for A & S Drywall for 11 years and a journeyman for Local 248/351 for over 30 years before his retirement in 2003. He used his skills to completely remodel their first home in Walbridge, and could always be found tinkering in his yard and garage where he had a tool to match any job. As much as he loved his work, his true love was his family. He was the happiest in their presence and always told everyone, “I sure am lucky.”

Larry also loved watching sports. He was proud to attend his kids’ and grandchildren’s sporting events, no matter where or when. He enjoyed attending Lake High School football games with his buddies for many years, as well. His other favorite hangout was Pat and Mike’s Barbershop, where he could be found eating his hidden stash of ice cream.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sue; children, Gary (Michalina) Henderson and Debra (Joel) Major; grandchildren, Julie Henderson, Chad Major, Anne (John) Lombardo, Sarah Major, and Adam Major; great-grandchildren, Maci Magrum and Baby Lombardo due in December; brother-in-law Kent (Linda) Christiansen; and sister-in-law Ruth Henderson. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles E. and Harry; and his sister, Sandra.

Family and friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd. in Oregon, OH on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM with the funeral service at 1:00 PM. There will be a private burial at Lake Township Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, consider a memorial contribution to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, who cared for Larry so compassionately.
