Margaret Fritz

Margaret E. Fritz, age 83, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Toledo Hospital. She was born December 12, 1942, in Los Angeles, California to Clarence and Lois (Strader) Foster. A 1960 graduate of Hunting Park High School, she received her bachelor's degree from BGSU and her master's degree from the University of Toledo. Margaret was a professor at the University of Toledo for many years. She was a people person and teaching was her passion. Margaret married Paul Fritz in 1973 in Grace Lutheran Church in Fremont, Ohio where Paul was assistant pastor. They eventually moved to Gibsonburg, Ohio where Paul was pastor of First English Lutheran Church until 1989.

After retiring from the University of Toledo, she shared her love of horses with others for over 10 years as a Therapeutic Instructor at Vail Meadows in Oregon, Ohio.  She will be remembered for her love of animals, with a great fondness for cats and elephants, but especially horses. 

Surviving are her loving son, Jonathan Fritz; sister, Susan (Ken) Johnson of Post Falls, Idaho; brother, Thomas Foster of Summerfield, North Carolina, and friend Casandra Ramos. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Paul.

Margaret's life celebration will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Freck Funeral Chapel where funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family c/o Freck Funeral Chapel to help with expenses.
