Mary Ann (LeDuc) Butterfield, born on August 27, 1943, in Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her hometown on November 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. A vibrant spirit who touched the lives of many, Mary Ann lived her life with confidence and had a magnetic presence that drew people to her.
Mary Ann was the beloved daughter of Peter Omer and Mary Alma (Steger) LeDuc, who preceded her in death, along with her dear sister, Judy Seltzer. She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength through her four devoted daughters: Donna (Brian) St. John, Darla (Bryan) Husen, Darleen (Lee) Ysasi, and Debbie (Ahmed) Al-Khudhair. Mary Ann was also a proud grandmother to her many treasured grandchildren. The joy she found spending time with them was immeasurable, and her legacy continues with her precious great-grandchildren who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts. She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Paula Seltzer, and her brother, Pierre (Theresa) LeDuc.
An accomplished woman, Mary Ann graduated from Harriet Whitney High School as part of the Class of 1961. She dedicated over 33 years of her life to the Social Security Administration, including 12 years in Minnesota, where she worked tirelessly, exemplifying commitment and diligence. Beyond her professional life, Mary Ann was a creative soul with many hobbies and interests. A proud member of the Quilters Guild, she found joy in crafting beautiful quilts that brought comfort and warmth to her family and friends. Mary Ann also enjoyed spending time with her friends, including her legendary Bunco group, in which she played with the same women for over three decades, creating lasting memories and laughter. Mary Ann was surrounded by a vast network of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends, all of whom were touched by her loving nature and vivacious personality. Mary Ann was a force of nature—confident, assertive, and charismatic. Her decisive nature and quick wit left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She was driven and impactful, often commanding attention in every room she entered with her captivating personality. Her loud laughter and sassy humor could brighten the darkest days and is definitely something all who knew her will miss.
As we celebrate her beautiful life, we hold dear the countless memories and the lasting mark she left on our hearts. She will be profoundly missed but forever remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her legacy of love and strength will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. Rest in peace, Mary Ann. You are now with the angels, and your vibrant spirit will shine on in our hearts forever.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 12-8:00 p.m. where a funeral service will be held beginning at 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
