Mary Ellen Miller, age 87, of Northwood, Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Kingston of Perrysburg. She was born on October 11, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio to Elmer and Mildred (Welling) Schroeder. Mary Ellen was a graduate of Troy/Luckey High School and attended the University of Toledo. She married her husband, Roy Miller in May of 1956 and together they started their family.

Mary Ellen was a stay-at-home mother and was active in her church. She later worked with the State of Ohio- BWC as a secretary. Mary Ellen worked her way up eventually becoming the Regional Manager of the Safety and Hygiene Division, retiring in 2001.

Mary Ellen was a member of First St. John Lutheran Church. She was the church secretary for many years and sang in the choir. Mary Ellen enjoyed the Bible Study Groups and was involved in the Woman’s Group at the church. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Mary Ellen enjoyed traveling, going to the theatre, playing Bunco and cards. She was known to be very social and would make friends wherever she went. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Mary Ellen is survived by her children, Julie Miller and Jeff (Angel) Miller; grandchildren, Lindsay (Chad) Hemmerlin and Ryan (Ruby) Miller; and great-grandchildren, Everett and Beckett Hemmerlin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy Miller, and sister, Joann Miles.

A memorial gathering will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 from 4 –7:00 p.m. Memorial services will take place on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at First St. John Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to First St. John Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society, or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
