Melissa Lyn Hanson

Melissa Lyn Hanson, age 41, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 9, 2025. Born on October 8, 1984, in Toledo, Ohio, Melissa’s vibrant spirit was felt by everyone around her.  Melissa was a loving wife to Scott Jones, whom she married on October 18, 2013. Their union was a testament to the love and commitment they shared, filled with laughter and the joys of everyday life. Throughout her battle with multiple sclerosis, which she bravely fought for 13 years, Melissa showcased resilience that inspired those who knew her.  For 19 years, Melissa dedicated her time and energy as a server at Bob Evans in Oregon, Ohio. In her role, she was not just an employee but a friend to both her colleagues and customers. Her genuine nature and unwavering kindness created lasting bonds, making her a beloved figure in her community. She approached every day with a friendly smile and a hardworking spirit, always ready to lend a hand to those in need, especially her cherished family.  Melissa’s warmth and generosity will leave a mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Melissa is survived by her husband of 12 years, Scott Jones; daughters, Leah Hanson, and Natalie Jones; siblings, Kendall, Herb, Tiffany, and Joe; mother, Michelle Crowder, father, Herbert Hanson and his wife Robin; mother-in-law, Deborah Bodi; sister-in-law, Sarah; brother-in-law, Shawn; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was also a proud mom to her cats, Chloe, Leo, Milo, and Stormi. Melissa was preceded in death by her brother, Matt; father-in-law, Glen Bodi and her cat, Ben.

Family and friends may visit at Freck Funeral Chapel 1155 S Wynn Rd. in Oregon, Ohio, on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. where funeral services will take place at 4:00 p.m. A private ceremony will be held at Lake Twp. Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Multiple Sclerosis Association or the Autism Society of Northwest Ohio.
