Michael "Mike" A. Swanson

Michael Allen Swanson, age 66, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully, at St. Vincent Medical Center, on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was born on November 5, 1959, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late John and Carol (Large) Swanson.

Mike graduated from Waite High School in 1979 and worked at St. Charles for 30 years. He was a proud fan of the Miami Dolphins and the Michigan Wolverines. Mike also loved to watch NASCAR. He always had a passion for golf and valued the friendships that he built while golfing. Mike went on golfing trips, which he always looked forward to attending. While golf was his passion, he also loved to bowl.

Those left to forever cherish his memory are his sister, Mary Jo Rill; four nieces, Morgan, Melody (Ryan), Melissa, and Sarah (Louie); three nephews, Paul, Rick (Lynn), and Jacob (Jill); sister-in-law, Mary Swanson; his partner in crime, Vickie Helwig; and many other great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brother, John Swanson Jr.; brother-in-law, Richard Rill Sr.; and niece, Melissa Rill.

Family and friends may visit at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Road, Oregon, Ohio 43616, on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A private burial will take place at North Oregon Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. Memorial contributions may be made to the Swanson family.
