Millicent "Millie" Schwan

Millicent A. Schwan (Rau), 88 of Walbridge, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. Millie was born in Stony Ridge, Ohio on November 29, 1937, to Henry and Lorena Rau. She attended Lake High School and graduated in 1955. Millie retired from the Village of Walbridge in 1998. She was married to her beloved husband, George, in 1957, and together they shared many wonderful years and built a loving family.

A woman who loved serving her community, Millie was a Girl Scout leader and consultant for the Maumee Valley Girl Scouts of America for 10 years. She enjoyed running, swimming, and gardening. Millie was also an active member of the Eastern Community YMCA, where she served as a board member, president, and water exercise instructor for 20 years.

Millie was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, where her faith and community were an important part of her life.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Phyllis (Scott) Marks, and son, Kenneth (Connie) Schwan. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amanda (Justin) Rysz, Anthony Schwan Brittany (Zach) Treolo, Dustin (Sarah) Schwan, and Gary Dorman; and her great-grandchildren, Harper and Henry Schwan, Bowie and Niko Rysz, and Olivia and Lainey Treolo. Millie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; her brothers, Roy and Loren; and her sister, Patricia.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel on Monday, October 5, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 26535 Pemberville Road, Perrysburg, Ohio where family will greet guests from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Troy Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Millie’s memory.
