Monica R. (Hornstein) Carpenter, 83, of Walbridge, ended her struggle with Alzheimer's on May 3, 2026, peacefully surrounded by family. Monica was born September 9, 1942, to Aaron and Cecelia (Bihn) Hornstein of Oregon, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Bob Carpenter, in 2006.
Monica was an LPN for 40 years after graduating from Mercy School of Nursing, with her last 10 years working at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg.
She took pride in being an Army wife and Army grandma, but her happiest moments were being a very active part of the Al-Anon community. She enjoyed baking, sewing, and making vegetable pizza for every and any occasion! Family and Friends were important to her, and she loved every moment spent with them.
Cherishing those memories are her daughter, Sue (Chad) Wetmore; grandkids, Kenny (wife-Heather children-Blake, Riley, Aubrey, and Hadley) Wetmore, Mark (wife -Sarah son-Myles) Wetmore, Greg (wife-Jennifer daughters-Izzy and Skylar) Wetmore; her sisters, Sue Droll, Ginny (Kenny) Schroeder; brother Tony (Deb) Hornstein; and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews who meant the world to her for whom before her memory failed she knew every single birthday and special occasion for everyone!
A very special thank you to Kay, Rose, Deb, and Maryann, along with Linda, for being wonderful support throughout this long journey, and Parkcliffe Memory Care for taking such great care of my mom these past 3 years.
