Nancy (Toots) Ida Carpenter

Nancy (Toots) Ida Carpenter, age 86, resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born on December 19, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio to the late Leon and Fanny (Manera) Newmister.

A proud graduate of Waite High School, Class of 1957, Nancy remained actively involved with her alma mater, serving on the Waite Alumni 50 and Over Committee.

For over 20 years, Nancy worked at That Special Woman. Her professional life was marked by her ability to make those around her feel valued and appreciated, embodying the very essence of compassion and dedication.

Nancy cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, taking immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was their biggest cheerleader, always encouraging them in their school activities and sports. Family gatherings were the highlight of her life, as she believed that quality time spent with loved ones was truly precious.

In addition to her devotion to family, Nancy found joy in dancing and simply enjoying life. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and the importance of family, which will continue to inspire generations to come.

Those left to forever cherish her memory are her loving children, Alan (Amy) Carpenter, Tim (Kerry) Carpenter, Pam Carpenter, and Marylou (Dave) Wethington; grandchildren, Niki (Josh), Nathan (Kelly), Jason (Rachel), Heather (Edward), Courtney, Danielle, Tiffany, and Tori; great-grandchildren, Audrey (Kyle), Gabby, Sophia, Wesley, Jackson, Violet, and Eloise.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Newmister.

Family and friends may visit at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Road, Oregon, Ohio 43616, on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, where a memorial service will take place at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
