Phyllis Jean St. John

Phyllis Jean St. John age 88 of Oregon, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at home. Jean was born to Carl and Virginia (Skomal) Soules on May 27, 1937 in Toledo, Ohio. She was a 1955 graduate of Whitney High School and went on to marry the love of her life, Raymond, and raise 6 children. They were lifelong members of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Jean was the center of her big family. She loved to cook and care for her children and later grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. For fun, she loved to go fishing, which of course was always followed by a fantastic fish fry. Jean was a fan of Walmart even before we had them in the area; she loved to spend time shopping the aisles for deals.

Jean is survived by her husband Raymond; children Randy (Pam) St. John, Sue (Jay Schnabel) Akers, Jeff St. John, Ray (Pam) St. John, Valerie (Bret) Kinsman, and Matt (Lori Darga) St. John; 21 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Tom Soules, and sister Patricia Bruce.

A visitation will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel 1155 S Wynn Rd in Oregon on Tuesday, June 17, 2205 from 2 until 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 212 N. Stadium Rd, at 10:30 a.m., where family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
