Raymond J. Tucker, 73, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully at St. Vincent Hospital on Friday, July 10th, 2026, after a brief illness.

He worked for several years at Diversitech General Facility, before retiring from doing what he loved, being a custodian at Perrysburg Schools.

Ray was married to the love of his life Betty (Burgess) Tucker for 43 years. She knew that he was the one for her when he married her and took care of her three children, as if they were his own.

Ray loved to work in his garden, golf, fish and hunt. He enjoyed spending summers at their camp at Walden Lake in Indiana. Some of his favorite pastimes include watching The Ohio State Buckeyes, the U.S. Open and the Cleveland Browns.

If you stopped by the house, you would often find him sitting by the fire listening to classic country music and drinking a beer or watching his favorite John Wayne westerns.

Ray loved to cook for family, whether it be Thanksgiving dinner, his famous chili, canned salsa or tomato sauce from the garden, or one of the many animals he loved to hunt. He was always quick to offer you food and a funny story about the boys growing up, as he held those memories close to his heart.

He leaves behind the love of his life Betty (Burgess) Tucker, three sons that he raised as his own, Thomas (Angela) Wern, John Wern, James (Angela) Wern; eight grandchildren Jared Kearney (who he raised and guided like a son), Hunter (Claudia) Wern, Jacob (Bethany) Wern, Olivia Wern, Connor Wern, Alicia (Josiah) Simmons, Anthony (Lauren) Perez and Leonardo (Taylor) Rodriguez, as well as two great grandchildren Addison and Caspian Rodriguez. He also leaves behind his sister Chris Ivan, sisters-in-law Maryanne (Kenneth) Bacon, and Catherine (Michael) Kosciuczyk, Joanne Burgess, Pam Burgess, Marleen Burgess; and many nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Tony and Helen Tucker, as well as brother in laws, Gary Burgess, Donald Burgess, Michael Burgess, and William Burgess, and sister-in-laws Marjorie Burgess, and Sue Burgess.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Road, Oregon, Ohio 43613, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm, with his celebration of life beginning at 7:00 pm.

A private burial of his ashes will be held with immediate family only.
