Richard Samuel Aossey

Richard S. Aossey, age 58, of Liberty Center, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Fulton County Hospital. He was born on November 17, 1966 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Edward and May (Richardson) Aossey. Rick served as a Seabee in the United States Navy. He was extremely proud to be an American. Rick worked as a Journeyman Electrician for IBEW local #8 and at one time was a volunteer fireman/EMT at the Waterville Fire Department. Most of all he was a family man who was proud to be a husband, dad and grandpa.

With prayer, Rick felt he found his soulmate, his wife Chery. They were married on June 28, 2018, “God gave you”. They were each other’s rock and best friend. He was a loving and devoted husband to Chery for the last seven years. He was very smart witted with his sarcasm and dark humor “that would come right off the top of his head.” Also, he had no problem reciting lines from movies and songs without missing a beat. Rick was a big hockey fan, and enjoyed playing in his younger years. He had an adventurous spirit who loved to go hunting, and camping. Rick was an excellent cook and master griller. He enjoyed his cigars and sharing cigar cutting and proper smoking techniques along with a bourbon-whiskey. Rick was a giving man who would help anyone in need. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Chery A. Aossey; children, Connor (Mackenzie) Aossey, Brynn Aossey, and Delaney (Collin Mueller) Aossey; stepchildren, Zackary (Kaylee) Horvath, Justin Horvath, and Tyler Horvath; grandchildren, Emmett, and Christopher; his father, Edward Aossey, sister, Jennifer (Sean) Wyszumiala, Sue (Clint) Burnett, and Michelle Price; and his in-laws, Barbara (Dave) Bazzy and Tarry (Judy) Beard. He was preceded in death by his mother, May Aossey, and grandparents, Emmett and Betty Aossey.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. where services will be held at 6:00 p.m.
