Richard “Rich” John Kiss Jr., 62, of Oregon passed away at his home on June 23, 2024. He was born on November 9th, 1961 to Richard J. Kiss Sr and Mary Margaret Elizabeth (Lengel) Kiss. He was a 1980 graduate of Clay High School. Rich earned his Forestry Degree in college and would also later join the police academy, serving as the Valedictorian of his class.
Rich was a maintenance worker at Woodville Mall beginning in 1984 and then joined Toledo Metro Parks as a Park Officer in 1994. He would serve in this role for over 20 years and had other jobs throughout the years. Rich was a dedicated and passionate drummer, hunter, and fisherman. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited. Rich also enjoyed watching classic TV shows such as The Three Stooges, Gilligan’s Island, Andy Griffith, and his childhood favorite show, Johnny Quest. He was known to be forgetful at times, often misplacing his wallet. He was a fan of college football and enjoyed supporting Notre Dame. Rich was a very good grandfather, he referred to his grandchildren as choochoo and bubby boo boo.
Rich is survived by his daughter, Victoria (Fiancé Nate Miller) Kiss; son, Ricky Kiss; granddaughter, Olivia Kreais; grandson, Hunter Miller; and one on the way. He is also survived by a former wife, Karolyn Jansen; nephews, Joseph Steward and Sean Steward. In addition to his parents, Rich was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Steward, and his cousin, Joseph Wayne Kiss Jr.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 3-8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 10:30 am on June 28, 2024. Memorial contributions can be made to the family.
