Robert J. Joehlin Jr., age 89, passed away peacefully at home on April 15, 2026. Born and raised in Oregon, Ohio, Bob was the son of the late Robert and Olive (Schmidlin) Joehlin Sr. He remained a lifelong resident of the community he loved. Bob was a 1955 graduate of Clay High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society and earned his State Farmer Degree through the Future Farmers of America. During his senior year, Bob demonstrated remarkable determination, overcoming polio to proudly walk across the stage without crutches to receive his diploma.
He continued his education at Bowling Green State University and later graduated from Davis Business College with a degree in accounting. On May 3, 1958, Bob married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jane (Bohling). Together, they shared nearly 68 years of marriage, building a life centered on love, faith, and family.
His passion for helping others led him to a career in accounting, where he was known for preparing taxes for family and friends. Years later, he returned to Davis Business College as a financial aid advisor, guiding students toward their futures.
Bob also built a successful career as a Nationwide Insurance agent for 30 years working alongside his beloved wife until their retirement in 2007. Bob took great pride in his heritage, especially celebrating the sesquicentennial (150 years) of the Joehlin Farms in 2023. He was a devoted member of The Gideons International for over 54 years, reflecting the deep faith that guided his life.
Bob will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and compassionate man who never spoke a bad word about anyone. Above all, he cherished his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jane; his son, Mark (Paula); his grandchildren, Luke and Megan (Andrew); and his great-grandson, Brody, who affectionately called him “G-PA.” He was preceded in death by his son, David; his parents; and his sister, Marian. Bob’s legacy of faith, kindness, and devotion to family will live on in all who knew and loved him.
