Rosemary Millie Goeke, age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Otterbein of Pemberville. She was born on October 27, 1940 in Graytown, Ohio to John and Agnes Brown. Rosemary was a 1958 graduate of Oak Harbor High School where she was a cheerleader and Homecoming Queen. She enjoyed waitressing at Van Atta’s restaurant after school and was well-loved by all the patrons. She married George Millie in 1961, earned her Master of Education degree from Bowling Green State University, and taught at Oak Harbor Schools for several years. She was always active in community softball leagues and enjoyed time with neighbors and friends in Oak Harbor. Later in life, Rosemary sold real estate, owned and managed a tavern and A-frame cottages on the lake. She remarried and loved to play games and sports with her family and work in her yard. She will be dearly missed.
Rosemary is survived by her children, Therese Millie, Annette (Jeff Metzker) Millie, and Elise (Ivan Suner) Millie; her brother, Kenneth (Linda) Brown and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lucille Hoelzle, Anna Brown, Ruth Ann Thornton, Johnny Brown, Lorie “Dolores” Linke, and widow Harold Goeke.
A memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at St. Boniface Catholic Church 215 N. Church St. Oak Harbor, Ohio 43449 where family will greet guests from 10:00-10:30 am. Final resting place will be Union Cemetery in Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Boniface Church or Toledo Humane Society.
