Russell R. Cheatham (Uncle)

Russell R. Cheatham (Uncle), age 61, resident of Genoa, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Bay Park Hospital in Oregon. He was born on August 8, 1964, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Allen and Helen (Slemp) Cheatham Sr.

Russell graduated from Clay High School in the class of 1983 and spent many years working for Petro. Outside of work, Russell was an avid fisherman who found peace in nature and the open waters. He also enjoyed listening to Elvis, singing karaoke with his sister, and playing cards and dart ball with his church friends from Trinity United Church-Christ in Elliston.

He will be incredibly missed and remembered for the joy he brought into their lives.

Those left to forever cherish his memory are his siblings, Allen Cheatham Jr., Cindy Johnson, and Lucy Mata (Bill Williams); nieces and nephews, Sharon, Karen, Helen (Kevin Jacobs) Boggs, Rachel (Howie, Connor), Nicholas (Misty), Brian, and Cory; godson, Michael Denko; and many great and great great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by his sister, Connie Cheatham; nephew, David Cheatham; brother-in-law, Michael Johnson; sister-in-law, Caroll Cheatham

Family and friends may visit at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Road, Oregon, Ohio 43616, on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, where the funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm. Following services, Russell will be laid to rest at North Oregon Cemetery.
