Sandra Jane LaCourse

Sandra Jane LaCourse age 76, of Oregon, passed away unexpectedly on Friday October 12, 2026. Sandra was born to Hayes and Iris (Bihn) Shaffer on April 16, 1950 in Oregon, Ohio. She was a 1968 graduate of Clay High School. Sandra worked for the Oregon City Schools as a paraprofessional for over 25 years retiring in 2012. She loved her students and took great joy in seeing them out and about even after she retired.

Sandra was the center of her family. Unofficially running the “GNN” (grandma news network) she always had a good story. A loving mother and grandmother, Sandra never missed a sporting event and could always be counted on for her good food, as she was a wonderful cook and baker (she like her sweets). On Friday nights, Sandra looked forward to meeting up with her girlfriends to play cards and played bunco once a month for 50 years. She was a people person and loved to sit on her front porch with a hot decaf coffee and shoot the breeze.

Sandra is survived by her husband of 58 years, Michael Sr.; daughter, Staci (Joel) Cook; grandchildren, Rebecca (Nathan) Volker, Lindsey LaCourse, and Trent Cook; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Noah, Quinn, Wren, and Maeve; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her son Michael Jr. in 2010, parents, brothers and her sister.

A visitation will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel 1155 S Wynn Rd. in Oregon, Ohio on Thursday October 22, 2026 from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
