Steven Scott Gordon, age 54, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a life full of humor, adventure, and deep love for his family. Born on July 23, 1971, Steve was the son of Frances (Thomas) Wuest and Carl (Gerri) Gordon.

At the center of Steve’s world was his son, William Gordon. He was a devoted father who took pride in sharing his passions with Will, whether they were outdoors exploring or just enjoying life together. He also remained on good terms with his former spouse, Dawn Levy, and his special friend Torey Bonde.

Steve was known not just for his love of the outdoors but for his sharp wit and sarcasm that could both make you laugh and keep you on your toes. Whether he was hiking, kayaking, scuba diving, working in his garden surrounded by his chickens, or in the kitchen canning and making beer, you could count on Steve to have a smart remark ready—usually with perfect timing.

A proud Marine Corps veteran, Steve carried his strong sense of service into civilian life through volunteering, most notably at the Toledo Zoo, where he spent many hours scuba diving in the aquarium. It was the perfect combination of his love for the water, animals, and doing things most people would never even consider trying.

Steve is survived by his son William; his mother Frances; his father Carl and stepmother Gerri; and his sisters Carla Gordon, Heather (Steve) Webb, Pamela Gordon, step-sisters Rebecca Ervin and Pamela Wuest. He will also be missed by his aunts and uncles as well as many nieces and nephews—many of whom learned early on to appreciate (or at least tolerate) Uncle Steve’s sarcasm and quick comebacks.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Jean Rost, and Chester and Margaret Gordon, as well as his stepfather, Thomas Wuest.

A private ceremony will be held to celebrate Steve’s life. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of his love for scuba diving and his years volunteering at the Toledo Zoo, donations can be made to the Toledo Zoo: https://www.toledozoo.org/donate/general donations

Though Steve’s passing was sudden, the impact he had on those who knew him will not fade. He will be remembered for his sharp sense of humor, his love of nature, his service to others, and above all, his unwavering love for his son.
