Steven A. Hatfield

Steven A. Hatfield, age 65, resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio – Toledo. He was born on February 16, 1961, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Joseph and Rita (Schassberger) Hatfield.

He graduated from Woodward High School before proudly serving in the United States Navy. Following his military service, Steve began a career as a mechanic with Romanoff Industries, where he worked for 41 years before retiring.

He enjoyed fishing, watching football, especially the Las Vegas Raiders, and listening to all types of music. Steve also appreciated a cold Bud Light and the chance to relax with family and friends.

More than anything, Steve loved his family. Spending time with them mattered most to him, and they will remember the many memories they shared together. Steve will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to forever cherish his memory are his loving wife, Jerre (Stamper) Hatfield, whom he married on February 17, 1989; three children, Matt DeWitt, Stacy (Christopher) Nowak, and Steven (Cathy) Hatfield Jr.; 7 grandchildren; and his brother, Joe Hatfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Stamper.

Family and friends may visit at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Road, Oregon, Ohio, 43616, on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. Military honors will take place at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Steven’s name to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
