Susie Rene Creech-Shumate

Susie Rene Creech-Shumate passed away on July 16, 2026 at St Vincent Mercy Hospital, Toledo, Ohio. She was born to Milus Creech and Ida Fern (Terry) Creech in Forth Worth, Texas, on July 22, 1953. She married John Bee Shumate Jr., who she would later divorce. They had one child together. Later in her life she would graduate summa cum laude from Tyler Junior College with a degree for professional work as a radiology technician. She spent many years working for Methodist hospitals in the Dallas area. By 2010 she had moved to Bowling Green, Ohio, where she would work for Bittersweet Farms in Pemberville and the Senior Center in North Baltimore. Rene was a breast cancer survivor, and she loved sewing and all kinds of arts and crafts.

Rene was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Beatty and Virginia, and her brother James. She is survived by her daughter (Jeannie) Myriah Peth and her grandchildren Axel, Liam, and Medea Crimmins; also, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Per Rene’s wishes, she will be cremated without memorial or monument. Donations shall be accepted via GoFundMe to assist the family with Rene’s final expenses.
