Thomas Robert King was born December 6, 1937 in Toledo to Thomas O. and Martha E (Keller) King. He attended Burroughs Elementary School and was a '56 graduate of Libbey High School. Tom excelled in baseball at Libbey and went on to play Federation baseball for various sponsors in Toledo. At one point leading the city for highest average. Tom was an Army veteran and continued his love of baseball while playing for the Army at several bases throughout the country. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he resumed working for the railroad first as a brakeman then a conductor for several railroads including NY Central, Penn Central, Conrail and lastly Norfolk Southern. He retired after 43 years of service.
Tom's first love was hunting. Starting at a young age with his dad, then with his friends. He spent many years wildfowl hunting all over and around Lake Erie. He had many stories and could talk for hours about the good times. He also enjoyed trapshooting belonging to the ATA and attending many area, state and national matches for many years. His second love was fishing, first with family as a child on many trips to Michigan and Canada. Then in Lake Erie and Lake Michigan.
Tom married Rosemary Brossia on December 8, 1995 after a long friendship of over 20 years. He loved his 5 acres and pond and spent many hours turning it into a wildlife area.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gerald; brother and sister in law, Ronald and Martha Bielski.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary and son, Kevin King; grandchildren, Tyler (Brittny) King and Tiffany (Caleb) Andrews; great grandchildren, Jason King and Carter Andrews; and brothers-in law, William, Eugene and Arnold (Barbara) Brossia.
Family and friends may visit at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Road, Oregon, Ohio 43616, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, where the funeral service will take place at 12:00 pm. Following the service, Thomas will be laid to rest at Ft. Meigs Union Cemetery.
