William Grant Hickling, age 63 of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the University of Michigan Medical Center. Bill was born to Leslie and Jacqueline (Maier) Hickling on January 17, 1963 in Toledo, Ohio. He was a 1981 graduate of Waite High School, a Marine veteran, and went on to work in Manufacturing in Machine Maintenance, earning several certifications in Welding.
Bill, as he was known to those close to him, joined the Unites States Marine Corps shortly after graduating high school, and was honorably discharged at the rank of Lance Corporal (E3) after four years of service. He was proud of his service and remembered his time fondly. He had a deep love for family, sports, film, and Jesus Christ. He had a particular love for Cleveland teams like the Guardians and the Browns, as well as western movies and television. He loved to share these interests with his friends and family.
Bill is survived by his children, Corey Hickling, Mitchel (Katie Heltman) Hickling, Brian Hickling, and Sunset Notheis (Hickling); grandchildren, James, Willow, Presley, Re'a, Michael Jr., Delaynie; brother John (Bonnie) Schell; Niece Kitty Valot (Hickling), close family Jack and Peg Curran, and best friends Chuck Cousino, Mary Ames. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Frank Hickling.In honoring Bill's wishes, there will be no services.
