Anthony Joseph Russo

     Tony passed away peacefully on the afternoon of June 16, 2016 at the age of 79 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

     He was born on February 17, 1937 in Toledo, Ohio to Alfonso and Catherine Russo.  He was a devoted family man married to his beloved wife of 56 years Victoria (Oravecz).  He was the proud father of three children: daughter, Vicky (Mike) Steele, sons, Jeffrey and Jon. He is survived by his sister, Rose Russo and grandchildren, Christopher (Jessica), Aaron, Anthony, Brooke, Jonathon, Michael, Zachary, Jessica and Julia.  He also is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-laws, George and Emma Oravecz, Mary Jane and Joe Hull, Jean and Rick Gralak and many nieces and nephews, along with dear friends Steve and Pat Markos.  He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Mary Russo.

    Tony retired after 34 years of service with Dana Corporation.  He was a member of St. Stephens Church, where he was devoted to the church and the youth of the parish.  He was a dedicated volunteer in a variety of capacities ranging from Parish Council, Mass Lector, Parish Festivals and events, to coaching youth basketball, along with baking and making noodles with the ladies of the parish.

    We are very grateful for the loving care and compassion of the Doctors and Staff of Mercy St. Charles Hospital, Dr. Pennell and the staff at Cleveland Clinic and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

    The Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Epiphany of the Lord Parish – St. Stephen Church, 1880 Genesee St. in Toledo with the family to receive friends one hour prior. Burial will remain private in St. Ignatius Cemetery. Tributes in Tony’s memory may be made to the Epiphany of the Lord Parish- St. Stephens Church or Helping Hands of St. Louis.
