Barbara St. John Obituary

Barbara Jean (King) St. John, age 89, of Oregon, Ohio passed away Monday, July 12, 2021 at Bay Park Hospital after a long illness at home. She was born June 12, 1932, in Toledo, Ohio to Harold and Emma (Beale) King. She graduated from Woodward High School in 1950. Earlier in life she worked at Riverside Hospital and did have her real-estate license. She was a member of St. Ignatius Church. Barbara had a love for animals and nature, gardening, flowers, and plants. She was a self-taught botanist and maintained a greenhouse growing most plants and vegetables from seed, and some of her succulents she has maintained for 60 years. She also enjoyed playing bingo.

She is survived by her sons, Reginald (Sheree), David (Donna), Mark St. John; grand-children, Chadwick (Andrea), Adam, Brooke, Gregory (Angela), Kallin (Katherine), Korey (Ericka) St. John; also, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; daughter, Suzanne; parents; brothers, Robert and James; grandson, Justin.

The funeral Mass will be private and Barbara will be laid to rest at St. Ignatius Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to St. Ignatius Church or the local humane society.

When I’m Gone.

When I come to the end of my journey and I travel my last weary mile, just forget if you can, that I ever frowned and remember only the smile. Forget unkind words I have spoken; Remember some good I have done. Forget that I ever had a heartache, and remember I’ve had loads of fun. Forget that I have stumbled and blundered, and sometimes fell by the way. Remember I have fought some hard battles, and won; ere the close of the day. Then forget to grieve for my going. I would not have you sad for a day, but in summer just gather some flowers and remember the place where I lay. And come in the evening when the sun paints the sky in the west. Stand for a moment beside me and remember only my best.
