Darrell D Cowell

Darrell D. “Buzzy” Cowell, 65, of Toledo, Ohio passed away at Mercy Health - St. Charles Hospital on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. He was born on October 12, 1954 in Toledo, Ohio to Howard and Evelyn Cowell. Buzzy graduated from Waite High School in 1972. He worked at Norfolk Southern Railroad for 42 years.

Buzzy was fond of gambling at the Hollywood Casino, bowling with his friends, and playing softball. While he was on the softball diamond, his friends knew him as “Tomahawk”. He coached youth baseball for Lake Township, as well as peewee football for the Raymer Rams, where he was named honorary Captain in 2018. Buzzy also enjoyed golfing with his buddies Rick, Crusty, and Lenny. His favorite past time was spending time with his family.

Buzzy is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary Jo Cowell; children, Wendy (Adam) Hall, Deanna (Brandon) Jordan, Dahn Cowell, Diane (Bob) Aikman, and Dino (Crystal) Cowell; grandchildren, Kayleigh, Cove, Tabitha, Emma, Angelica, Leah, Elizabeth, Amber, Adeana, Grason, Tucker, and Victoria; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Caleb, Aubrey, Aria, and Brinley; brothers and sisters, Arnie (Barb) Cowell, Norma Langlois, Darlene (Fred) Foor, Dave Cowell, Don (Marie) Cowell, Sam Cowell, Shelley (Michael) Pawlowicz, and Bob (Sherry) Cowell; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Evelyn; brother, Howard Cowell Jr.; brother-in-law, Edward Langlois; and sister-in-law, Christine Cowell.

 A memorial service will be held at Unity United Methodist Church, 1910 E. Broadway St., Northwood, OH 43619 on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 2:30 p.m., with guests to be received at 2 p.m. A celebration of life will follow from 3 to 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Unity United Methodist Church.
