Elaine T. Sampson

Elaine T. Sampson, 70, of Northwood, OH, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Toledo, OH on May 28, 1951 to Paul and Violet (Okonski) Vas. Elaine married the love of her life, David, and together they spent 42 years raising their family until his passing in 2008. She loved playing scratch off tickets, her elephant collection, watching Gunsmoke and her pet cat, Mickey; she loved her family and greatly enjoyed cooking ethnic dinners.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, John (Mary) Sampson and Matt (Brenda) Sampson; her grandchildren, Randi, Bryce, Kaleigh (Connor), Kyle (Tara), and Brooke; her great-grandchildren, Damien, Hayden and Blaire; her brother, Dan (Mary) Vas; and her special aunt, Monica (Okonski) and Lorne Hume. She was preceded in death by her husband, David; her grandson, Brandon Barfell; and her parents.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Monday, August 30, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Graveside funeral services will be held at St. Ignatius Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their kind and compassionate care.
