James A. Watson

James A. Watson, 82, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Perrysburg Center.  He was born on June 12, 1938 in Cullman, Alabama to Allen and Dessie Watson.  James was a 1957 graduate of Woodward High School and worked part-time at Riverside Hospital before beginning his career there as a lab technician, retiring in 2000.  He was a lifeguard at the Toledo Club and YMCA for many years.  James also taught many people how to swim, giving lessons well into his 70’s.  

He had a passion for genealogy putting together many books of his family’s history.  James enjoyed gardening and volunteering his time to an area knitting group, making baby blanket for newborns.  He will be dearly missed.

James is survived by his sister, Martha (Ron Cummings) Henzler and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Arive Brown, Lewellyn Watson, Kenneth Watson, and Jo Ann Januzewski.

A memorial gathering will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, from 2-6:00 p.m. where a memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
