Jeffrey “Jeep” David Detwiler

1947-2023

Jeffrey “Jeep” David Detwiler passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 18, 2023, at ProMedica Bay Park Hospital with his Wife at his side. Jeff was born to John “Jack” Bachman and Barbara Kay Barton on August 24, 1947, in Peekskill, NY. Jeff graduated from high school in 1965 in Louisville, KY, and subsequently enlisted in the Marine Corps in June 1966. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving 2 tours from 1967-1969. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, and the Vietnamese Service Medal with 3 Stars. Jeff was an active member of VFW Post 2984, Northwood, OH, and participated in many activities over the years honoring his fellow Veterans. Jeff was employed for many years as a Boilermaker (Welder) and Concrete Finisher, retiring from Martin Marietta, Woodville, OH, as a Maintenance Repairman in 2012.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Joan (McNally), with whom he shared 45 years of his life; His Daughters Dawn (Marc) Monnette of Maumee, OH, Erica (Brian) Suto-Kaiser of Sandusky, OH, Malissa (Scott) Richter of Jacksonville, FL and Jeanine (Andrew) Sondergeld of Murfreesboro, TN; Grandchildren Victoria and Tessa Monnette, Jeffrey “Bobby”, Timothy, and Savannah Suto, Samuel Kaiser, Makella Kozina, Jeffrey Richter, and Maison Sondergeld; Sisters Karen Kennedy of Littleton, CO, Barbara Jayne (Bob Lucas) Bachman of Aurora, CO, Chris (Larry) Lynch of Robins, IA and many loved nieces and nephews.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; John Bachman, Barbara Kay and Frank Detwiler and sister Gretchen Kantzer.

Family and Friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd. in Oregon on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Funeral Services will begin at 6:00pm. Memorial Contributions in Jeff’s name may be made to VFW Post 2984, Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund or the American Cancer Society.
