John Orlie Huss

John Orlie Huss, age, 89, of Curtice, OH, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 7, 1934 in Oregon, OH to Durward and Della (Wells) Huss. John served in the US Coast Guard from 1952-1956 and was stationed at Marblehead Lighthouse. He met the love of his life, Mariellen, and together they were married for 63 years until her passing in 2018. John retired from Arco Pipeline in 1991 as a regional electrical supervisor. As a born-again Christian, he served in many different roles over the years in several churches as a board member, elder, deacon, janitor, and Sunday school teacher. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

John leaves behind his children, Jeffrey (Robbin), Randall (Jaynann), Tamala, Robert (Melinda), and Tonya (Terry); his 14 grandchildren; his 15 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Carol. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Richard; his wife, Mariellen; his sister, Shirley; his brother-in-law, Bill; and his parents.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with the funeral service to be held at 12:00 p.m. John will be laid to rest with his wife at Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Special Olympics or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
