John Towner, age 89, was entrusted into the care of God on October 3, 2023, at Kingston Senior Living in Sylvania Ohio. He was born in Dayton, OH to Harold Alfred Towner and Dorothy Adah (nee: Davis) Towner. John, known as Jack to most who knew him, was devoted to God, Family, and Country. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Army and served during the Korean War. After his service to his country, Jack earned a first-class radio license from the Federal Communications Commission through the National Radio School and began his 40-year long career in the Marine Electronics Field. His love for tinkering found him working at a local hardware shop for 4 years until the physical demands of the job became too much. He later devoted 10 years to the Toledo Museum of Art where he retired in May of 2016.
He had a very strong faith and found his final church home at The Church in Birmingham, Toledo, Ohio. He also served with the Gideons for 11 years fulfilling his commitment to spread God’s word.
Jack was a member of several American Legion Posts throughout the years, the last being the Christ Dunberger Post 537. He also served for many years as a Lucas County election officer.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years Sharon, daughters Cheryl Towner, Jenny Ireland (Phill Stawicki), Jackie (Joe) Williams and Joyce (Michael) Perrico; son, Kenton (Jen) Towner; stepchildren, Jim (Rita) Powers, Curt (Alison) Osmun, Chad (Nasra) Osmun; & Robin (Lee) Parsons; 9 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; and 6 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joyce Anne Towner; nephew, Robert Jasmine, & step-grandchild Angel Osmun.
