Linda Legeza Obituary

Linda Lou (Ketron) Legeza age 69, of Northwood, Ohio (formerly of Oregon, Ohio) passed away peacefully at home on July 23, 2021 after a near two year courageous battle with cancer. Linda was born to Clifton and Marie (Perry) Ketron in Verda, Kentucky on August 31, 1951. After moving to the Toledo area from Kentucky with her family, Linda attended Woodward and Waite High School. In 1972, she married Frank Legeza Sr., with whom she had her four children with during their marriage. She further went on to attend Stautzenberger College for studies in the nursing field. She worked as an aide and receptionist for the Franciscan Care Center for 26 years until her retirement. She deeply loved her children and grandchildren. Most days in her younger years, she would often be found cheering on her kids at their various sports activities and school functions. She enjoyed spending time with her kids and neighborhood kids in the family’s backyard by the pool. Linda also enjoyed playing in the ladies softball league at the Oregon Rec, as well as bowling league nights. She always looked forward to nights out and gatherings with friends and family. Her humor and sassy personality was always a welcoming light and added fun to any gathering. Her hobbies included crafting, crocheting, reading, traveling to visit with family, watching her court shows on TV and cheering on the University of Michigan football team in their better seasons. Her courageous and lively spirit will live within the hearts and cherished memories of her family and all that knew and loved her. Linda will be forever loved and deeply missed.


Linda is survived by her four children Tammy (Dave) Ogle, Teresa Kochanski, Frank Legeza Jr., and Beth (Bill) Byers; the biggest joys in her life, her grandchildren Derek Kochanski, Jacob Ogle, Talia (Ethan) Dixon, Nathan Ogle, Austin Kochanski, Alaina Byers, Sophia Ogle, Annika Byers, Sidney Legeza and great-granddaughter Olivia Kochanski; special family friend Rebecca Williams; siblings Roy (Sue) Ketron, Rhonda (Jody) Swain and Ellen (Cricket) Hamilton as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Joyce Pennington, Charles Ketron, Carol and Carmen Ketron; and her significant other of 22 years, Bob Vermilyea.


A memorial funeral gathering will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel in Oregon, Ohio on Sunday, August 22, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. A memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral chapel. A Celebration Of Life luncheon for Linda will follow after the service. The family wishes to sincerely thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio, the Mercy Cancer Center of Perrysburg and Dr. Shahid and staff for their care, compassion and support they provided Linda during these last few years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated in Linda’s honor to Hospice Of Northwest Ohio or The Victory Center.
