Mary Josephine Zapadka

Mary Josephine Zapadka, age 84, of Walbridge, OH, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born in Toledo, OH to Raymond and Mary (Kevill) Fackelman on July 26, 1938. Mary married the love of her life, Eugene, and together they raised their family. She worked for many years at the Catholic Chronicle and later as the office manager at St. Jerome Parish. She enjoyed reading and playing euchre, but most of all she loved spending time with family and friends.

Mary leaves behind her children, Teresa (Ted, Sr.) Whittaker; Pamela (Dan) Kunz, Michael (Jennifer) Zapadka, Steven Zapadka and Timothy (Sheri) Zapadka; her grandchildren: Jessica (Steven) Kite; Ted Jr., Taylor and Tara Whittaker; Danielle (Andy) Kelsch, Joshua, Ashlee, Michelle and Jamie Kunz; Alex, Sam, Thomas and Bryan Zapadka; her great-grandchildren, Justice, Jackson, Phoenix, Karter, Konner, Karson, Meadow, Francesca, Layla, and Luna Rae; her siblings, John (Rebecca) Fackelman, Barbara (Dave) Banaszak, and Geraldine (Richard) Medary. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eugene, her parents, and her brother, Raymond Fackelman.

Family and friends may visit the  Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Sunday, August 14, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 300 Warner St. Walbridge, OH, on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. with visitation held from 10:00 a.m. in the church narthex. Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband at Willow Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Christy’s Corner Café, Elmore, OH, Attn: Kathy Barbee.
