Monica Diann Villarreal

Monica Villarreal, 41, of Harborview, Ohio passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at the Cleveland Clinic after fighting a battle against pulmonary hypertension/congestive heart failure. Monica made the brave decision to forgo, a low quality of life, treatment and passed on her own terms with help from hospice while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 19, 1981 in Oregon, Ohio to Lynette Shafer and James Villarreal. 

Monica enjoyed nature and animals, especially the antics of her best buddy Greyson the cat. She was a spitfire and a precious soul to her big brother. Her younger brother called her his hippie big sister. She also enjoyed being a special auntie to her many nieces and nephews. Monica was a loving daughter and enjoyed helping the family as she often put others first. Monica had endless love in her heart and would share it with anyone, especially those in need.

Monica is survived by her mother and stepfather, Lynette (Dennis) Szych; brothers, Timothy (Missy) Villarreal and Christopher Rodriguez (Andrea Young); step siblings, Chad (Jennifer) Szych, April Brenner and Jessie (Jim) Szych; nieces and nephews, Cienna, Reed, Aliyah, Zhoey, Jazz, and Rosiemoon; and her furbaby, Greyson.  She was preceded in death by her father, James Villarreal.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 12-5:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Humane Ohio at www.Humaneohio.org
