Paul was born to Phillip and Mae Petersen on March 21, 1938 in Little Falls, MN. After a 3-month hospital stay he finally grew to 5 lbs. and was able to go home to Freedhem, MN. He lived there until he was 7 years old when his family moved to Albion Center, MN where his father bought a creamery. They attended Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church where Paul was confirmed. He and his dad were active in the Wright County Saddle Club and participated in many parades and competitions with their horses. He graduated from Annandale High School in 1956 and served 4 years in the Air Force. In 1961 he married Evelyn Wells, and they started out their life together in Houston, TX where their son, Daniel was born. Paul was employed by S.C.M. Klienschmidt as a tech rep. His job moved him to Saginaw, MI and daughter, Patsy was born there. They were transferred to Baltimore, MD in 1974 and then Cumberland, MD. They came back to Minnesota for a short stay, but he returned to Klienschmidt and moved his family to Roanoke, VA and from there he was transferred to Ohio in 1980.
In 1983 he was able to realize his dreams and he purchased 2 horses after buying a home and property on Woodville Road in Northwood. In 1988 Paul turned 50 and suffered his 1st heart attack in July. In November he had his 2nd heart attack and had emergency open heart surgery. In December of 1988 his job with Kleinschmidt was abolished. A year later in 1989 he started working for T.L. Industries on Tracy Rd in Northwood.
Paul loved the Lord and served in many Methodist Churches wherever they lived. He sang in choirs at many of the churches. Rossford UMC holds Paul in high esteem for his participation as a lay leader, official board chairman, trustee, and 40 years in the choir. He became a District Certified Lay Speaker around 1994. Paul and Evelyn moved to Landings of Oregon in September of 2019.
Paul is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Oregon; son, Daniel (Tammy) of Syracuse, NY; daughter, Patsy (Jeff) Harvey of Curtice, Ohio; grandsons, Travis (Malissa) Ferguson and Tyler Petersen; 2 great-grandsons, RJ and Cameron Ferguson; and his brother, James (Marilyn) Petersen of Bloomington, MN. Paul was preceded in death by his parents. Paul had the faith, understanding, and belief of eternal life and this earth was just a temporary stay.
Private entombment will be held at Restlawn Memorial Park and a celebration of his life will be held at a later time. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Rossford United Methodist Church.
