Richard Gene Ferguson age 71, of Jerusalem Township, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio-Perrysburg. Rick was born to Robert and Beverly (Wainright) Ferguson on September 13, 1951, in Toledo, Ohio. He was a 1970 graduate of Waite High School. Rick owned and operated Al Szuch Bait Shop for the past 25 years. He also captained the Pirate Treasure Charter Boat on Lake Erie and in Oscoda, MI. Rick was very active at Wolf Creek Sportsman Club helping with youth hunts, the veteran’s breakfast, and cooking at the wild game dinner. He was also a member of the Masons, played softball for many years, and coached Hockey. As a proud Papa, his grandchildren enjoyed his Christmas tradition of making fudge and having him in the stands for their sporting events.
Rick is survived by his wife of 50 years Pamela (Bee); children Tori (Dave) Baertschi and Toby Ferguson; grandchildren Toby (Yisenia Ruiz) Jr., Chase, Gavin, and Isabella; sister Tracy (Richard) Hansen; mother-in-law Judithe Bee; in-laws Cheryl Ferguson, Kyle Sevilla, Gordon (Sharon) Bee, Tracie Hearst, and Tom (Nickcole) Bee; and several nieces, nephews, and close friends Rick considered to be family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Terry, father-in-law Robert Bee, brother-in-law Ramon Sevilla, and nephew Ricky Hansen.
A visitation will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel 1155 S Wynn Rd. in Oregon, Ohio on Friday, January 27, 2023, from 4 until 7 p.m. A time of sharing will begin at 7 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wolf Creek Sportsman Association 349 S Teachout Rd on April 15, 2023, at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions are appreciated to Tori Baertschi for Al Szuch Live Bait.
