Suzanne "Sue" Ricci

Suzanne “Sue” Ricci, 83, of Toledo, OH, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022. She was born to Stephen and Elsie (Hasenbalg) Bartus on January 21, 1939 in Toledo, OH.

Sue attended Garfield and Oakdale Elementary Schools and graduated from Waite High School in 1957. She went on to study Sales Technology at University of Toledo Evening Program and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in 1990.

Sue worked as a Merchandise Supervisor for American Greetings, as an Activities Coordinator for East Toledo Family Center at the Navarre Park Shelter House, and finally in Adult Protective Services for Lucas County Human Services.

She enjoyed time with friends and family; especially bowling, golfing, gardening, fishing and playing cards.  She was active in volunteer activities as an aide at St. Vincent’s Mercy Hospital, a tutor for Read for Literacy, a bald eagle monitor for Ohio Dept of Natural Resources and fostered and trained dogs for Assistance Dogs of America. In 2016, Sue was honored with an East Toledo Family Center Distinguished Alumni Award for Service to the community. 

 
Sue is survived by her children, Frank (Jana), Chris, Tina (Marshall) Ricci Tucker and Brandy Alexander; her brothers, Steve (Janet), John, and Michael; her sister, Cheryl; and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Ricci, her parents, Stephen and Elsie (Hasenbalg) Bartus, brother David and her sister Judy.

Family and friends may visit at the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd., Oregon, OH, on Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Ability Center of Toledo.
