Tibor Agoston, Sr.

Tibor Agoston, Sr., age 81, of Northwood, Ohio passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at MercyHealth-St. Charles Hospital surrounded by his son and family.  He was born on October 14, 1939 in Savor, Hungary to Jeno and Julia Agoston.  Tibor fought in the Hungarian Revolution in 1956 before coming to the United States.  He worked as a Foreman for CSX Railroad retiring after 37 years of service.  Tibor volunteered at the Ohio Naval Militia for 26 years and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary for 11 years, both at Camp Perry.  He was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and the Toledo Shrine.  He enjoyed, traveling out west and Florida and going to the casinos.

Tibor is survived by his son, Tibor Jr. (Cynthia) Agoston; three grandchildren: Tibor III, Tilena and Tyler; brother, Jeno (Margaret) Agoston; half-brothers, Frem and Zolne; brother-in-law, Fred (Nancy) Noel; sisters-in-law, Nancy (Bernard) Smith and Susie Roberts; cousins, Robert (Julia) Ferencz and Ilona Kosza; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members; special friend and companion, Marian McQuery; and his close friends, Frank (Eleanor) Madachy, Don (Arlene) Gurzynski and Barb Rosebrock  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lola of 49 years; sister, Julia; brother-in-law, Richard Roberts and his half-sisters from Hungary.

Friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd. in Oregon (419) 693-9304, on Monday, February 15, 2021 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. where the rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. by members of Our Lady of Toledo Shrine.  Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Thursday at 11:15 a.m. and continue on to St. Ignatius Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m.  Burial will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, consider making memorial contributions to his family or St. Ignatius Church.
