William J Byersmith

William J. Byersmith, 86, of Curtice, Ohio passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Parkcliffe at Northwood.  He was born on July 24, 1931 in Toledo, Ohio to Fredrick and Evelyn Byersmith.  William was a 1950 graduate of Libbey High School and served in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War.  He retired from Toledo Edison after 30 years of service where he worked as a power linesman.  William was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and Christ Dunberger American Legion Post #537.

He is survived by his children:  Catherine Draper, John Byersmith and Susan Gurzynski; grandchildren:  Diana Ward, Stephanie Byersmith, Catherine Gurzynski, Michael Byersmith,  Sarah Gurzynski, Paul Gurzynski Jr and Tyler Draper; great-grandson, Dominic Hughes and his siblings, Marie Carl, Paul (Terry) Byersmith and Thomas Pete (Sharon) Byersmith.  William was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary; sons, Michael and Mark and siblings, Frederick Jr., Virginia Taraschke, Robert Byersmith and Margie Fairbairn Buehler.

A memorial gathering will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 9-11 a.m.  A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow at Christ Dunberger American Legion.  Memorial contributions can be made to St. Ignatius Catholic Church.
